◦Cut in approx. 1/4 shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
◦Slowly add approx. 1 cup of buttermilk.
◦Stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Do not over stir
◦I break dough apart into 6 balls. Then pat down into 1/2 inch biscuit shape, folding in approx. 1/4 tsp. butter in the middle.
◦Place biscuits in greased cast iron pan.
◦Bake at 450° for 20 min. or until lightly browned.
◦Brush w/ melted butter after baked.

Extra Help, Hints or Suggestions:

I use my hands to mix/stir mixture. Dough will be moist and sticky.

You may not need to use all buttermilk so only pour a little at a time.
Do not want mixture so sticky you can't get it off your hands...lol

Rub flour on your hands to prevent dough from sticking

*If you don't have buttermilk. I have found that "cultured buttermilk blend" works great. Just use 4 tbsp. with 1 cup of water to equal buttermilk.
