About Me

Well lets see.

My name is Barbara. I was born and raised in Florida. I currently live in Lake Butler, FL with my husband of 18 1/2 years and my 3 children, Todd, Jr., Ryan and Amber. My family is my life. My world revolves around them. I am very blessed to have them all in my life.

Anyway about me; Uh, I'm a stay at home mom. I home school my children. My oldest just graduated so I only have the 2 youngest to teach now. I am also a secretary for my husband's business, Elliott's Painting & More, LLC. (a plug in for him. You go Babe).

What else? Well, I cook & clean. We have animals so I (and my husband) make sure they are all taken care of. I am a nurse at times. If anyone reading this is a mom then you know what I mean. You hear ow! and mom comes running to take care of the boo boo. I plan trips and get-togethers with other home schooler's. We are blessed to have several people in our church that home school so we get together with them.

As you can see I'm busy, busy, busy. I do have a personality somewhere, but I'm just too busy to find it.

Let's see, what else. O.k. I'll get a little personal now.
I dropped out of school at 16 and got married just a few months later. My husband and I worked together to bring in an income and live on our own. It wasn't easy, but we managed. About 2 1/2 years later Todd, Jr. came along. Approximately 2 years after that, Ryan came along and I decided to go back to school to get my GED. This was very important to me. While I was very pregnant & big, I took my GED test and past. Next I began classes called Office Support Technologies. Basically I learned how to type, file and run an office. This class was only supposed to take a year, but with 2 small children I could only go to school 3 days a week from 8a.m. - 12p.m. but halfway through I applied for a job and was hired on at the same school I was attending. So Mon - Wed. I would go to school then leave class and go to my office where I worked week nights from 1-9p.m. I did finally finish classes with a certificate & had a full time job. Later we decided to try for a girl and that's when Amber came along. I quit work and decided to stay home for awhile. I did eventually go back to work as a caregiver for about 3 years, but my husband, children (& myself) wanted me to be home so I'm at home again. We decided to put my time at home to even a better use by home schooling. This was a VERY GOOD decision. I might talk about that at another time.

So this was just a little bit about me. Just an average person.

Under Construction

Hello:

You may have noticed some changes and some quirks to my blog. Please be patient while I try to re-arrange and organize my site. I think you will like the end results. With Thanksgiving just a few days away however, this process may take awhile. Again please be patient and check back often.

Thank you for visiting and please come again.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Only JESUS Can!

Who do you know who can create with a word?

Who do you know who can cause the blind to see and
Who do you know who can replace your burdens with peace?

Only JESUS!

Who do you know who can raise up the dead?
Who do you know who can heal with a touch and
Who do you know who can give great peace from above?

Only JESUS!

Who do you know who can tell the lame; walk again?
Who do you know who can calm the wind and seas and
Who do you know who has this authority?

Only JESUS!

Who do you know who can rule this universe?
Who do you know who can turn seas into dry land and
Who do you know who can use dust to create a man?

Only JESUS!
Only JESUS knows my every fear.
Only JESUS can fulfill my every need.
Only JESUS can take away every tear.
Only JESUS can give me such peace.

Only JESUS!

Go To Sleep

This is a little rhyme that I made up for my little girl, Amber when she was a baby and now I want to share it with you. I hope that someone will keep it going with their little one.

Go to sleep little baby. Go to sleep. Go to sleep.
Go to sleep little baby. Go to sleep.
Get yourself in that cozy bed, lay down your little head. And go to sleep. Go to sleep.

Before you go to sleep; you need to close your eyes, lift your hands way up to the sky and say your prayers. Say your prayers.

(insert your own prayer here)

Now when you go to sleep. You the Lord will keep. So go to sleep. Go to sleep.

(kiss and say goodnight)

Watchman On The Wall

Dear Readers:

I have a pastor who means the world to me and to many, many others. He is an awesome man of God. If you have never met Pastor Jeffrey Arnold you need to come visit our church in Gainesville. His words of wisdom will change your life. You don’t have to take my word for it though just come visit The Pentecostal's of Gainesville and see for yourself.

The following poem was written by me about 2 years ago and was inspired by Pastor Arnold.

Hope you enjoy it.

Barbara Elliott

Watchman On The Wall

The watchman on the wall always looking out for me. Standing tall in the shadows while down on his knees. He is with us all the time with his love and caring heart while reaching to God; all on our part.

Never letting us go even when we were weak and frail. He holds on to our hands with every loving prayer. He could let us go and say "What's the use? They have failed so many times, what more can I do?" But he always holds on just long enough for help to arrive; God’s enduring love.

The watchman may say "I am only a man, nothing special, just doing what I can." For he is truly a man of God; wanting nothing for himself. His greatest gift will be when God says “My son you have done well." He doesn't for a moment take any kind of credit. He gives to God all the glory, honor and praises. He longs to be pleasing to God and to do His will. Whatever it takes and whatever is required, the watchman will do to fulfill the Lord's desires.

With no concern for himself the watchman forges on as the battle rages he prays "The Lords Will BE Done." Nothing will deter him. He aims to win for there is a purpose and a vision that's much greater than him. He is always watching out, ready to warn of impending danger threatening to do us harm. Satan can't get past this godly man who protects us daily by pleading the blood of the Lamb.

The watchman fights wearing the armor of God for he doesn't fight against flesh and blood. He uses each given spiritual tool as he slays the dark spirits and brings us through. Through the course of his journey he has seen many things like sickness, healing, miracles, death, hatred and love, yet no matter what; in God he places his trust. For God is in control; Of his life, Of his destiny, Of his soul.

What more can we ask for from our God who has given us a man after His own heart. Who wants nothing more in this life, but to be able to bring men, women and children to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are very blessed to have this man on our side. With a leader like our watchman, we together will win this fight. We will prevail. We will succeed. Just do as the Watchman and take to your knees. With the help of the Holy Ghost we will remain faithful and strong and stay in the will of God where we belong.

This is just a short testimony of what he is and what he has done. When some, including myself were too weak to go on; when our own burdens were getting to heavy to tote. He at times has been our last and final hope; For this is when he reaches out to God in our place, praying and weeping with his undying faith. He is not willing to leave anyone behind and he has gone back many times to encourage and pick up the fallen ones and to let them know they are never alone. That this fight is almost done and when we all reach heaven’s gate, we will be able to stand tall and say.
"WE Have Made IT! WE Have Won!"

So lead on WATCHMAN, lead on.

My Money Saving Tips

It's not easy taking care of a family on a limited budget. Limited budget here meaning "BROKE". We are a one income family. I stay home and teach our children, take care of our home, cook our meals and more. This is a lot of work not too mention it costs money to live. When our income slowed down this year (slowed down here meaning "STOPPED")I knew we needed to do something quick. I had to come up with some ways to save money to help out with finances. Just because I don't bring in a paycheck doesn't mean I can't help out financially. Below are some money saving tips I found useful.

Of course the first tip is CLIP COUPONS. Get your sunday paper and comb through it finding coupons that you can use.
*Only use coupons for items you are going to buy anyway. If you buy items you don't need then the coupon really didn't help. Also check the store brand. Sometimes even a coupon doesn't mean savings. The store brand is sometimes cheaper even if your using a coupon. So don't rush. Research. It may take more time, but the time will be worth it when you find that you saved money.
Try coupons.com to view and print coupons.

Check the store paper for sales. Again only buy items you need and are going to buy anyway or need very shortly. Shortly here means within the next week or two. Also check to see if any of your coupons can be used with a store item. This will be even a better discount.

Of course FREE is BETTER so try this:

Go to websites and look for free samples. This is a chance to get free stuff while also trying new products to see if you like them. You can then get coupons for these items. Sign up for there newsletter for upcoming sales, coupons, etc.
Do this every few months to see if new samples are available.

For example:
Go to walmart.com, in the search box, type "free samples" and click search.
Click on "free samples" then scroll down to find a column of available samples. Just sign up for the sample you want. It takes 4-6 weeks to receive the samples, but it is worth it. After all it is FREE.

I've gotten samples of shampoo, diapers, gum, etc. Also since I signed up for the newsletter I receive updates and coupons for future purchases.

If you drink cokes or know someone who does. Obtain the red caps. Underneath the cap is a code. Go to mycokerewards.com to sign up and enter the codes. You can use the points earned to get products like magazine subscriptions, gift cards, t-shirts, etc. Again it is FREE.
Tip: the code is not always easy to read so just remove the plastic covering to reveal a clear view.

Even if you do not have a web address, just google a product you like. You'll find the website easily this way. Click on it and search for free samples or coupons. It's easy. Just take a little time.

These are a few things I do to save money. As I find more ways or remember others I will add them.

If you have any suggestions or comments, please fell free to share. I welcome all feedback. I just hope this helps someone else.

Attacked by..........well you tell me..

Attacked while helping...

Check out this site for the story of a couple that were attacked when they pulled over to help someone they thought were in trouble and needed assistance.
www.news4jax.com/news/19994711/detail.html?dsq&taf=jax

You always hear news about someone being robbed, attacked, etc., but you really don't think it can or will happen to you or your loved ones. I mean you hope and yes pray. It's in the back of your mind that it could, but you don't really believe it will.

It was about 4:00a.m. on a Tuesday morning. I awoke and couldn't go back to sleep. About 10 min. later my husband awoke. This is not usual for us. At 4:15a.m. the phone range. I yelled to my husband to get the phone. I just had a feeling that something was wrong. "Answer it now" I said. "Somethings wrong." It was my mother in law letting us know that our niece and her fiance had been badly beaten up and were taken to the hospital. I jumped out of bed not knowing what to do.

It is one of the most terrifying moments when you get a call that someone you love has been hurt in an accident. It breaks your heart to know you really can't help. Pray was all I could really do. But it makes you VERY VERY MAD when you find out that this was not an accident, but some young people (ages 15 - 23)who decided one night to catch someone off guard and attack them for no reason what so ever. NONE.

A car was pulled over with its flashers on. My niece's fiance got out to ask if they could help. That's when he was attacked and knocked out by one man almost instantly. You would think that the criminals would have stopped there, but they didn't. Another man began stomping on his head and kicking him. My niece said it all happened so fast. She didn't know what else to do but get out and run to him to try and help in some way. The two ladies (15 & 19) grabbed her and drug her away and began beating her, kicking her and biting her all over. For some reason, as quick as it all began it stopped and the criminals took off. Although hurting she ran to her fiance's side were he was bleeding so badly from the face she thought he was going to die. He was gurgling in his own blood. She ran to the car and got it beside him but he was just to heavy to get him into the car so she ran to the road and flagged down a car. The car was driven by a nurse who called 911 and done some first aide.

I'm trying to keep a positive spirit about all of this, but I'm having feelings that frankly don't go with my personality. All of the "suspects" were arrested upon my niece positively identifying them in a line up, but the very next day 3 of them walked out the door of the jail. The only reason the other remains is because he violated probation so their holding him. The 15 year old is a minor we don't even know her name. The other 2 we have a name and picture which is good since these people live near my niece's home. We are able to warn neighbors by showing them a photo and telling them about the incident. These people could return and finish the job if they wanted. What's stopping them? This is what's so upsetting. You almost kill someone one day and your walking free within a few miles of your victim the next. What are we to do? This is the question? I'm having a hard time trying to figure all this out. If I'm not doing so well with it then how is my niece or her fiance doing? I am mad, furious, outraged. I keep thinking what if this was my son or daughter? Punishment is slow in coming and since some of the suspects don't have a record they will probably walk with a smack on the wrist. You know physically my niece will heal. But she will always remember this attack. The same goes with her fiance, but it will be a long time until he heals. He has several surgeries still to go through to repair his face that was smashed in. Then how long will it take to repair his faith and hope. While it's taking a few months or years for my family to heal physically and mentally. It only took one day in jail and the criminals walked and will most likely remain free for the most part. I just don't know what to think about all of this.

I'm just venting my frustrations now, but I have more in my heart and mind I could say. I won't now. I left out so many details. I might fill them in later. I don't know. For now I pray and think and pray and think. My niece and fiance have bills like the rest of us and a baby that needs them and no way to work due to their injuries. They are still being assaulted if you ask me. Day after day by these thugs that call their selves people. People.....sound more like animals to me.

NO ONE DESERVES THIS.
